It's not just about the dog itself, but the relationship you have with it!

ForPaws Helps Corgis and Corgi Mixes

Dedicated to Bart, who had the Most Beautiful Tail

"It's very simple. Dogs and cats and other talented animals have tails; their tails, with their thousands of flourishes, provide them with a wonderfully complex language of arabesques, not only for what they think and feel and suffer, but for every mood and vibration in their feeling tone. We have no tails, and since the more lively among us need some form of expression, we make ourselves paintbrushes and pianos and violins..."

A Dog of Three Names finds his Home

This sweet little Corgi-Border Collie mix had a bit of a rocky time finding his real Home. Coming into foster care early in December from an over-crowded shelter, "Sam" stayed with us for a couple of weeks.

Almost immediately "Sam" just wasn't right for him and he became "Zippy." With a good dose of the Border Collie personality, this little guy is definitely very Zippy!

Joining another foster family during the Christmas-New Years Holiday period, Zippy made more friends, but this still wasn't Home.

On January 6 Zippy struck it rich. He found his family, a lovely couple with just the right experience for an active fellow like this, and some land for him to run - perfect!

And now, he has his third name. In fact he is carrying on a family tradition. "Ernie" was the name of his new owner's grandfather - an avid dog lover. We're told that he'd be very honored.

Happy New Year Ernie! You waited awhile, but you found a Terrific Home!

More Velcro Puppy

There is a comfortable dog bed only a foot away, but Sage wants to be right at the foot of the desk chair and close to my feet. For now, this works, though it looks a bit uncomfortable.

No one has told this little 9 pound puppy that he's going to get just a little too big to squeeze himself in between the chair legs.

And for now, he looks so peaceful...why rock the boat?

Repeated flash photos weren't enough to awaken him.

Like that little round belly...must be time for dinner!

Busy Boy

It used to be my home office, but it's been transformed into a Puppy Playground! I get to work when the puppy is tired. Tonight he fell asleep in my lap...awwww!

Velcro Puppy - Sleeping on Slippers

Sage is the sweetest little dog imaginable. He loves his people and his canine sisters. When he gets tired, he parks himself under my chair and konks out.

Last night I looked down and he had positioned himself with his head on my slippers. Awww...just too cute!

He had a very big day!

Hard to believe he's sleeping on slippers, versus chewing on them. This is one GOOD little puppy!

First we Sleep - and then We Play!

Another first - Sage fell asleep in classic corgi upside-down style while hanging out in the study with me.

Somehow it is even cuter when it is only 8.3 pounds of Cardi!

Sage & Denali - One of the first play sessions.

Denali became comfortable enough to play with Sage in record time. She's not always so willing to accept play partners. Looks like the theory that a puppy would work better with her was correct! Hurray!

Sage - Day 3 at Home - Ears are Up & we have FRAP!

Day Three in his new home: Sage is clearly growing more comfortable. He is doing a bit more exploring and is gallumping about more. (Very funny when their legs aren't quite coordinated to work well together yet.)

More things are going into the mouth...yes, it's a puppy! And he's managed to convince Denali to play with him! This is huge, as she is really quite choosy regarding play partners and it usually takes her a lot more time to accept another dog well enough for play. They had a wonderful little play session this morning, and another this afternoon. We will try to get photos that aren't just blurs, and make a little video.

This little guy is very talkative. He makes all kinds of funny, squeaky sounds. Yes, he can definitely bark, but generally chooses to express himself by talking - I like it!

Ears are still up - looks good!

Sage is noticeably bigger today.  And his cream coloring is already getting darker.

He loves ALL of the toys. But when it is time to nap, he settles at our feet - sweet!  This is one happy, adorable puppy!

T-Minus 48 hours and...Presto - We have Corgi Ears!

In the last 48 hours, the duct tape crown performed magic....amazing, now he looks like a Corgi!
