It's not just about the dog itself, but the relationship you have with it!

Dedicated to Bart, who had the Most Beautiful Tail

"It's very simple. Dogs and cats and other talented animals have tails; their tails, with their thousands of flourishes, provide them with a wonderfully complex language of arabesques, not only for what they think and feel and suffer, but for every mood and vibration in their feeling tone. We have no tails, and since the more lively among us need some form of expression, we make ourselves paintbrushes and pianos and violins..."

Honoring Denali

Yesterday evening we attended the annual awards banquet for our Dog Club. Each dog that has received a title or award during the prior year is honored. There is a little photo presentation and each owner gets to stand up and say a few words about the dog and its achievements.

As a dog who obtained her Canine Good Citizen certification last year, Denali qualified to receive her first award. As she obtains additional titles, they'll be added to the plaque.

As a new member of the Club, and one new to formal obedience training, I wasn't aware that we'd be expected to say something about our dog. When my turn came I realized that although Denali has yet to earn an official title, I was just as proud of her CGC accomplishment, and rewarded by the strengthened bond that has developed between us as a result of our training time together.  My closing line was,

"Denali is a GREAT little dog!"

Congrats to Denali and you. Goes to show that good owners and good dogs do good things and occasionally people recognize it. Up next the puppy known as Sage
