Dedicated to Bart, who had the Most Beautiful Tail

"It's very simple. Dogs and cats and other talented animals have tails; their tails, with their thousands of flourishes, provide them with a wonderfully complex language of arabesques, not only for what they think and feel and suffer, but for every mood and vibration in their feeling tone. We have no tails, and since the more lively among us need some form of expression, we make ourselves paintbrushes and pianos and violins..."

Make yourself at Home!

Yesterday was Moe's birthday. As a relatively newly-diagnosed celiac, who can't eat any baked goods that actually taste good anymore, my love of baking has dwindled since I was diagnosed about two years ago. This is a real downer for Moe, so last night he got homemade cookies, fresh from the oven, for his birthday. I got to smell them...sigh!

All of this baking activity was new for Sage too. At first he thought for sure that the cookies must be for him. After all...every time he sees me cooking, it generally is for him! (Moe cooks, i bake.)

Needless to say, we were up late, opening presents, smelling cookies, etc. By the time we were ready for bed we found that a very tired puppy had beaten us to it!

This is the sight that greeted us.

He was so completely out that he didn't wake up, or even stir, when I took these photos. And yes, he has made clear that he prefers the same sleeping spot that Bart did, right here on the people bed! He is the proverbial warm puppy...a great little snuggler!

Sleep tight Sage! Only one more day to be an official "puppy."
That year went fast!

I love it when they sleep "the sleep of the dead" -- nothing can get them to move! Chase is a sprawling bed sleeper. Inca is kind enough to curl up near my feet, and Phoebe sleeps under the bed on my side.

He is just like Cappy. Once he finds his spot on the bed you have to push and roll to get him to move. Happy Birthday brother Sage.
